About
Jåttå Gårdsbryggeri (Translates to Jaattaa Farm Brewery) is a Norwegian craft beer brewery that contacted me to design their branding which included logo design and beer label designs.
Goals
- Create a logo that speaks to the history of the brewery's location
- Create a template design which can easily be modified for different beers to cut cost
- Be as cost effective as possible in the design process
Design Process
To achieve the goals I followed the process below:
Research > Lo-Fi Prototype > User Testing/Feedback > Hi-Fi Prototype
Research
In the research stage of the design process I was very limited by location, seeing that the brewery is located in Norway. Therefore I was limited to the information that they provided me and information about their consumers that they gathered through their Facebook page. It all resulted in me having a better understanding of their demographic and history of Jåttå which is the area at which the brewery is located.
Prototype
I started prototyping by sketching out the logo. The logo was completed first as it was crucial to establish a custom template for the labels. I started by sketching lo-fi prototypes on paper and used the research as reference when synthesizing ideas. Once the lo-fi prototypes were done, I had Jåttå Brewery select the idea that they would want to use and I continued by creating more iterations of the selection to give them a final choice in the end. After the logo was completed I repeated the same process when coming up with a template. Below you can see some of the lo-fi iterations as well as hi-fi iterations.

Final
The final iteration of the logo has been integrated into a template that resonates with the history of Jåttå. The Template is also cost effective as only minor changes needs to be made in order to repurpose the labels for new beer releases without comprising on cohesion across the brand.
